Hypocrisy? Dreams of grandeur

(Roman Polanski with Crystal Globe Image provided by Film Servis Festival Karlovy Vary Roman Polanski was arrested yesterday in Zurich, on his arrival at the airport to pick up a lifetime achievement award. The world of culture was immediately raised, with proclamations of solidarity and outrage. My first reaction was similar but not exactly for the same reasons. The alleged offenses date back to 1977 when Polanski had intercourse with a minor after sharing drugs and alcohol. The speech, if the victim was consenting-raised by advocates of same-director has no weight, being under age 13 and older.
So we want to do? Use two weights and two measures because the person in question is a genius modern cinema, or because the facts dating back 30 years ago? Forget the wounds of the past is impossible and certain events never fall in prescription. Or maybe you? If we assume that people change over the years, we can not help but hope that the director is nearly eighty released as soon as possible and to continue his life in peace of mind.

On the other hand, this case shows plots groundwater. The opportunism of the Swiss are surprising: the director has long been a French citizen and has long sought to appear before the U.S. courts. Switzerland also has much to be forgiven and has never been an example of political clarity.
Opportunism is the word that comes to mind, cleverly hidden behind the neutrality of opportunism. If tax problems with UBS there are not, the arrest would almost seem like an act of good will. But the pressure on the U.S. is suspicious. Yes, Switzerland is suspect since its banks hide behind numbered accounts, secrets and treasures from all over Europe.
want to see that if Roman Polanski was presented in a false name (or just anagram), customs officers have turned a blind eye?
